Welcome

We, the Fachschaft Mathematik/Informatik (student council of mathematics and computer science) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology would like to welcome you on our website for the orientation week (O-Phase) in winter semester 2018 / 2019. Here you can get the most important information and news you will need as a new student.

O-Phase?

“O-Phase” means orientation week - a week of fun and informative events starting Monday, October 8th 2018 at 9 o’clock in the morning with our welcoming event in the Audimax.

The orientation week, traditionally the week before the first lectures, is intended to help you with the start of your studies. During the week, you will be receiving a lot of useful information. Of course, you will also have enough time to explore Karlsruhe and the KIT in small groups so you can become friends with your fellow students. In every group, there will be at least three experienced students (tutors) who will answer your questions during the week (and maybe afterwards). Besides the central events everyone should attend covering for example the beginning of your studies, the student representatives (AStA), and the student body (Fachschaft), there will be a lot of different activities. For further information, you can view our schedule. As you can see, there will be enough time for individual activities in your group.

You should by all means attend the welcoming event and your “Fachbereichsinformation” (FBI), where your course of study will be explained in detail. If you are not living in Karlsruhe or close by, you should try to find a place to stay during the week so you are not missing our events in the evening. Should you still need a place to stay by the start of the orientation week, tell us on Monday so we can try to find a couch for you.

In case you can not attend the welcoming event or the “Fachbereichsinformation”, please contact us via E-Mail at o-phase@fsmi.uni-karlsruhe.de so we can find a group you can join for the remainder of the week and give you our important information. New information will be published here.
